Tomorrow morning I will (virtually) attend the 2nd parole hearing for my rapist, Ronnie Jim Pieros. He has not completed any sex offender rehabilitation treatment. He has not taken responsibility. He has not changed. We are only 15 years into a 24-life sentence.

UPDATE: I took some time to recharge yesterday, but thankfully Pieros was denied parole and set back in one year. So we do this again in January 2023. The board member stated he is close to beginning rehabilitation treatment and can be assessed for release once he starts by the full board.
You may recall the controversy surrounding the labeling of sexual offenders as just that here in Colorado in late 2021. It was an issue I spoke out against when Colorado’s SOMB voted to change the language surrounding predators.
Over the next year, he may (or may not) start sex offender rehabilitation treatment.
For context: I have been in therapy trying to heal the destruction and trauma this man caused me in just two hours, for over 15 years. He will not be ready to reenter our community in one year.
